Juan Ramón Velázquez

Juan Ramón Velázquez was born in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico in 1950. Velázquez is a self-taught artist with over 40 years experience as a painter and sculptor. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in Europe, Latin America, United States, and Puerto Rico. He became known in his early days for his carbon and pastel drawings. His paintings possess a dream-like quality, often marked by his exploration of texture, color, and transparency. Velázquez presents glimpses of objects suspended in ambiguous spaces and landscapes, creating the impression that they are drifting through surreal, weightless environments.
