Celso "Tito" Suárez

Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico in 1954, Tito Suárez learned woodworking in his father’s workshop and later trained in lathe work at Rosario Woodworking. He holds a civil engineering degree from UPR Mayagüez and an MSCE from the University of Michigan. Suárez is a founding member of the Woodturners of Puerto Rico and has participated in multiple group exhibitions, including Al Son del Torno, Sucesiones, and Trastornos. His work centers on woodturning with local woods, often integrating resins and other elements. He continues to create in the same workshop where he first learned the craft from his father, Don Gumersindo.
