Christian Martínez

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1981, Christian Martinez is a visual artist and educator whose work spans painting and drawing. He earned a Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Art Education from the Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño de Puerto Rico in 2004. In 2019, he completed a Master’s degree in Education with a specialization in Museology from Caribbean University.

Martinez has exhibited his work in both solo and group shows across Puerto Rico and New York. His artwork is part of numerous public and private collections, including the Museo de los Próceres in Cabo Rojo, the History Museum in Aguadilla, the Museum of Art and History of Arecibo, Casa Alonso Museum in Vega Baja, the Reyes Veray Collection, and the Jiménez Colón Collection, among others.  His paintings often highlight local scenes with a masterful use of light and shadow. Reminiscent of Impressionist detailed brushstrokes his works convey a strong scene of atmosphere and place through nuanced light and a quiet emotional resonance.
