A hand-painted wooden "santo" sculpture representing the Virgin Mary, is depicted in a traditional Puerto Rican folk-art style. The figure is standing with her hands joined in prayer. She wears a brown hooded mantle that drapes over her shoulders and frame, contrasting with her beige or cream-colored gown. The sculpture features a serene, minimalist face with dark, simply rendered eyes and eyebrows. The piece is set on a dark blue rectangular base decorated with several pale yellow, leaf-like or flame-like strokes. The entire work exhibits a hand-carved, matte texture with visible vertical grain and soft, layered paint.
