Nora Álvarez

Born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, Álvarez holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico. She went on to earn dual Master’s degrees in Land Resources and Geography from the University of Wisconsin and later completed a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences at the Universidad de Puerto Rico in 2016. 

From 2007 to 2009, she was a participant in the Superarte Program at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño de Puerto Rico, an experience that deepened her engagement with the visual arts. Her ceramic work has been featured in several group exhibitions. Álvarez’s work reflects a sustained and thoughtful engagement with the interconnected worlds of art, science, and nature, examining how these fields inform one another and contribute to a deeper understanding of our environment and place within it.
